I’m sitting on the couch in my living room with Lake Street Drive playing drinking coffee as my roommate packs for her move to LA. I’m a bit hungover from a night out until 4:00 AM and woke up with my empty plate from eating in pizza in bed. It was my first night with my new comforter that my amazing sister got me as a house warming present. We’re all recounting the night and the hilarious hi-jinx we got ourselves into. We went to Verlaine for a going away dinner for Kristi. IT was a pretty cool spot in the Lower East Side. It was a group of about 10 girls, we drank Lychee martinis and ate amazing Asian food and talked about how fun dating is in this crazy city. Krisit’s sister is recently single and had a face of horror when we told her about the ridiculous dates we’ve been on and the nutty people we have met. She also recounted for us the time she got a $700 haircut from a guy who cuts Kim Kardashian’s hair. Safe to say I couldn’t really relate to that one. Krisit got into a little spat with the waitress when she told us our reservation came with a $400 minimum (ha!). That didn’t happen (although to be fair, we were close: $372). After that we headed to Piano’s only to find out there was a cover that no one wanted to pay to get upstairs. So we hoped around to a couple other bars. Mind you bar hoping when its 33 degrees outside isn’t the ideal circumstances. Trying to make your way through bars while lugging your huge puffy jacket and scarf isn’t the easiest either. Apparently you don’t want to coat check because of the risk of bed bugs so you either carry it around or find a safe corner to shove it. Jamie and I eventually left the pack to meet up with my friend Tom’s old roommate from when he lived in NYC at Phebes in the East Village. After a couple beers there and a moon walking competition with a really hot guy, we headed back home. Of course we had to stop at $1 slice of pizza which is my new favorite late night spot. I’ve decided pizza is my boyfriend.
Anyway, I’m sitting here on the couch and now we’re talking about getting some beers and watching college football and its just one of those mornings where I am so freaking happy. This weekend is the one year anniversary of the weekend Joe and I broke up. It was the weekend before Thanksgiving last year. I could have never pictured what my life would be a year from that weekend. It only makes me excited for what this next year has in store for me.
